@taiyabazaheer94923 years ago When you said we don't teach our children about skincare, I could relate so much. ☹️ My mum is an amazing, educated and working woman who has taught me a lot of hacks but unfortunately she's not very concerned about her skin so didn't teach me as well. I went through a tomboy phase in my teens so didn't care to educate myself (also was busy with entrance exam preparation) lest I could prevent stretch marks and pigmentation. Now I'll have to treat them. ☹️ ... 112

@happygucci50943 years ago I love your transparency and confidence- you are beautiful inside and out!
I was convinced no one would ever find me beautiful because of some stretch marks- I avoided the beach and certain clothes as well. So much time wasted!!
Again your confidence, intelligence and beauty is a joy to behold.
Thank you for educating women/ people of color!!

Will see if my daughter’s allergy to nuts would be able to use sweet almond oil in her skin. I recently bought one from Mountain Rose herbs, a bit on the pricey side only because they are a small company and they’re organic, however if anyone knows an organic sweet almond oil brand that is worth trying let me know. ...

@crystinecleland45762 years ago Can you do a video focused on stretch marks you’ve had for years?? 3
  • @
@krit-wt4oslast year Knowledge really is empowering!! I have stretch marks on my upper thigh from rapid growth and for the longest time I didn't even know what they were. Growing up in an Indian household, no one taught me these things and skincare isn't ever a topic that comes up unfortunately. So I just called my mystery scars "tiger stripes". I didn't even notice them during my teens but one day in my 20s I saw them and of course it seemed to appear out of thin air and I thought it was so strange. Once I realized they were stretch marks, I was perplexed because most sources of information out there tell us that stretch marks mostly occur due to pregnancy (this is what I believed for the longest time). I later realized they can also occur from puberty and that definitely helped ease my anxiety about my stretch marks. Videos like this with people sharing their stretch mark origin story also help normalize all of this so thank you!! I know I will definitely be passing on this information to my children one day. ...

@lailaayan3063 years ago Dr V this is so informative. Are you able to shed any light on cellulite? Also, I asked yesterday and via previous videos comments section...please may you carry out a review of Environ Products and whether their products are suitable for skin of colour. Thank you in advance 🧡
Also thanks for recommending using the numbing cream. I usually roll the derma-roller directly onto my skin. Its awfully painful

@d26s102 years ago Hi Dr V, new subbie here! Came across you tonight and subbed straight away as not only are you credible, clear and concise, you have such a warm, friendly presence on camera. I’m not even SOC, I’m Caucasian but I know I can take so much from this channel in terms of skin health.
I came across you when looking up recommended collagen powders. I’d like to start taking it in order to help smooth the appearance of my stubborn cellulite which has been around since my teens.
Would you consider doing an in-depth video on cellulite? It’s a bug bear of mine as I have managed to slowly and sensibly lose excess weight, yet the cellulite still remains and I can now see that it wasn’t necessarily the fat that was causing the appearance, rather the ‘mesh’ underneath the skin has broken down. Of course the lymph circulation and fascia all impact too... I’m sure many others would be most grateful for you to break down ways in which we can support the skin to help the appearance of cellulite! Thank you 😊

@armandadeveigamonteiro84573 years ago Hey Dr.V thanks for the video i was wondering can we use Tretitonin instead of retinol wouldn’t Tretinoin work faster ???? Thanks for your time 😘

@jennifercastro65883 years ago Dr. V (unrelated topic) but will you please review NIOD brand?! It’s the upscale version to the Ordinary. I feel like some of their formulations are going to be much better at tackling aging and hyperpigmentation??? 1
  • @
@suj1201last year This was a great video, Dr.Rattan. I use Tretinoin instead of retinol, and I'll say that this really dries out skin. I find the itchiness from this to be more uncomfortable than the 2mm microneedling. So, I keep some Cerave at work :) ... 3

  • @
@Sarotti283 years ago Dr V pls DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED by big brands messaging you. In recent video u said you're not going discuss products you don't like so as not to be "negative". Very unfortunate decision because this is how we learn when you point out what makes a product good & bad for SOC - you remove the confusion. Continue to SPEAK YOUR TRUTH based on science & with kindness. Maybe then brands will make better products for SOC. I appreciate your "love letters" & learn better when you inform of what's worth buying, what should be avoided & why. ❤️ ... 6

@vithiya893 years ago Dr. V, your videos are always enormously helpful. There are a ton of videos on ingredients and products on Youtube but they don't always address problems faced by those with Skin of Colour. Thank you for making credible, accurate and easy to understand information available to us. Your 3 part videos on the Ordinary skin care routine was particularly helpful. Bearing in mind how you have given a thumbs up for Paula's Choice, could you please help us do a similar set of videos with routines for hyperpigmentation, acne and anti-aging using the Paula's choice products? Thank you Dr. V! ... 2
