Israel's 'vaccine passport' app is bringing hope back - could this be Britain soon

Jalal Jamal, a 28-year-old make up artist, strolls into Jerussalm's YMCA sports centre and takes out his mobile phone. On the screen is a cheery animated logo of a family strolling through a park, lit up in green. This is Israel's pionering "green pass" mobile phone app, which allows fully vaccinated Israelis to visit swimming pools, gyms and cultural events for the first time in nearly half a year. Mr Jamal, an amateur bodybuilder, shows the pass to the receptionist and after a quick check he is allowed to enter the building for a long-awaited session of lifting weights. The green pass was introduced last Sunday and can be used by those who have received two doses of a Covid vaccine, as well as patients who have recovered from the illness. Boris Johnson has unveiled plans for a Government review into using vaccination certificates to unlock hospitality and entertainment venues.
