@susanb48163 months agoThe ports are federal authority but the communities the cars are stolen from is municipal and provincial authority’s responsibilities not to mention the roads the cars are driven down to get to the ports. Maybe if the police showed up when a car is reported stolen this wouldn’t be such a problem. The clear federal failure here is lack of consumer protection. It should not be so easy to steal a vehicle ...8

We are literally telling you which container. Yet no actions even then. Insurance is not an answer to theft. Police must act full force. These trackers must come with the Vehicle from manufacturers. ...

@raymondgagne83633 months agoI recommend 10 yrs on first offence, 20 on second offence. Same with online scammers, fraud, stolen personality, …… government need to impose deterrent measures!! Canada has become a known country to get away with crimes and have become the target at its citizens expense. For years if not decades, a report is taken and the matter not pursued. Why? ...

I have had several cases over the years of cars stolen in Ottawa and Montreal shipped in the containers. Not new just the volume or severity. The gangs use young offenders to steal because of the lower sentences. If the government doesn’t tackle youth sentences it won’t address the issue. ...1
