@susanb48163 months ago The ports are federal authority but the communities the cars are stolen from is municipal and provincial authority’s responsibilities not to mention the roads the cars are driven down to get to the ports. Maybe if the police showed up when a car is reported stolen this wouldn’t be such a problem. The clear federal failure here is lack of consumer protection. It should not be so easy to steal a vehicle ... 8

@oldmanlearningguitar4463 months ago The provincial governments know exactly where the cars are stolen. In the cities and counties of the provinces.
Many stories for months now where people with trackers on their stolen cars could not get the police to respond them and pursue the thieves. ... 2

@pking03 months ago We the general public invest in trackers etc. But no one is interested when a complain is lodged. Police should take this as priority when reported. We are literally telling you which container. Yet no actions even then. Insurance is not an answer to theft. Police must act full force. These trackers must come with the Vehicle from manufacturers. ...

Canada has become a known country to get away with crimes and have become the target at its citizens expense. For years if not decades, a report is taken and the matter not pursued. Why? ...

@RosalitaMariaCastillo-ps8bh3 months ago I am a recently retired prosecutor and this is not knew. I have had several cases over the years of cars stolen in Ottawa and Montreal shipped in the containers. Not new just the volume or severity.
The gangs use young offenders to steal because of the lower sentences. If the government doesn’t tackle youth sentences it won’t address the issue. ... 1
