@leewaymodels2 years ago Hey Kevin, I think your channel is great. I like to experiment with different van layout and build and your experience had me try many things and see where I can improve and try things differently. I don't care what stupid comments can say but I think you did a great answer to this unfortunate individual. Now all said and done, I would sure like to meet you in one of my trips! Cheers. ... 1

@karinhart4892 years ago I was at a meetup a few years back & several folks gave me a hard time because “you can’t stand up in a minivan” (I have a cargo ProMasterCity, baby brother of the ProMaster family). I looked puzzled because I had a regular cot in back & could sit up without my head hitting roof. I explained this vehicle meets my 3 requirements: it will park fine in underground parking garages at home, it gets 28-32 mpg, & I don’t have to sleep on the ground anymore long like in 40 years of tent camping. That was a good lesson in why you ignore people. Besides, I likely spent less on my van new in 2018 than they did on their 12 gazillion watt system upgrade to their RV.
My best friend from high school lives in Anchorage Alaska & if I take the state ferry system from above Seattle WA you pay by the inch for your vehicle… bet I’ll be able to get a stateroom for the several days of travel with the money I saved not having an big RV.

@3generations3932 years ago My late honey and I had a terrific time traveling and met the nicest people ever. My theory was-we were never around the same people long enough to see their bad side 🤗 I feal like this person is really hurting and needs attention. I truly wish them well 🙏 Now-Kevin-why is the goat sad? 😳 ... 2

@eddielongest14192 years ago Just me and the wife with a drawer full of "Been There Done That" T shirts. We have done extensive travel with a van and campers and over the years have enjoyed it. After about two to three weeks on the road we get the feeling, we are sitting around wasting time and get the desire to return home. We don't get homesick we just feel we would be more productive returning home.
I look at some You Tube Vanner's, and their life revolves around where to park and paying for gas and repairs. There are others out there for the reasons you stated. I think you can look at You Tube Vanner's and justify about any argument you want to make about them. Likewise, people are out there for their own reasons.
I do see a lot of YT full time travelers after a while on the road turning to homesteading or at least establishing a homebase. Me personally, I don't think I could ever fulltime on the road. BTW great channel.

@justflooreit4me12 years ago Maybe it isn't van life but trucker life he actually ment. 50% of truckers are in therapy and the other half of us need it. Good video sir. 1

@jadanblue39272 years ago Sadly, society's sterotype of us is very negative. Probably because the news focuses on the worst of us and overlooks all of us who live as highly functioning members of society. I have been full time urban van lifer for over 2 years and I realize we exist in a gray area but close to homeless. People love to judge others extremely harshly and quickly as it validates their own decisions and sense of superiority, so they throw us in with the homeless.
Most people don't care to learn about the individual. For example, they would not care that I have a very healthy income, I pay all the rent and bills for my children and their mother (even though I do not live there), I pay my (many) debts on time, I keep my van spotless and clean/organize every morning/night, I work out 6 days a week and work about 80 hours a week.
Now the loneliness is true for most of us as I cannot imagine having a roommate or romantic partner in my 40 square foot (20 year old) minivan. I do everything possible to remain 100% stealth as I have learned the hard way. The few times I have been "discovered" by extremely nosey people trying to peak behind my multiple layers of black-outs and curtains, I was treated like a monster or a zombie and was utterly scared for my life. People do not understand. I am not here to help society understand but just to continue to hide from a world too busy, too distracted and too judgmental to care or understand me and my specific situation.
I wish everyone could experience homelessness in some degree (either van life or sleeping out on the streets) so they would learn to judge others less and have some more empathy as everyone is fighting their own battle called life. We are not here to harm you, threaten you or corrupt your perfect world. We are just trying to stay out of your way and get a good nights sleep in our home, which (just like RVers) happens to be mobile.

@samanthadodd81122 years ago I travel to enjoy myself.
Those type people are everywhere at their double wide trailor, in a van, and in million dollar houses.
So the goat is sad now.

@frankcicero44444 months ago You should only worry about what God thinks about you because our journey here is short . We are fornuate to live in the greatest country on earth and what better way to see it on the cheap is on four good wheels I know that you have mentioned NYC a couple of times and I wanted to let you know that its not all bad . I was born and raised here and at 63 , I'm still here without any crime committed against me in a relatively safe area. ...
